According to FCCPC Twitter handle, two Chinese owned companies in Lagos has been closed due to racist and discriminatory act.
This was made known via a post.
Today, FCCPC has closed down Haufei Restaurant and Mall 33 along Aboyade Cole, VI based on credible intel and surveillance that the businesses declines service to Nigerians. Staff of the business admitted this is the policy and our operatives experienced same. Both now closed for further regulatory action.
Immediately after the closure, the owner of one of the business location went to Twitter to rant about the act and denied the allegations leveled against his company.
Like a drama, the director general of FCCPC replied him saying..
I am the DG, never been to your biz. Sent 2 people differently there today, you declined service because they are Nigerians, I made inquiries from your staff outside what the policy is, they confirmed, I came in, same thing happened to me. This representation is entirely false!
A Twitter user @mlog23 reacted to the post stating his displeasure with the decision to close the business saying…
You have no business closing down a private business because they are restricting patronage or being exclusive to their folks. But again this Nigeria where whoever has power can abuse it whatever way they want!
And he got the DG of FCCPC’s attention. Mr. Tunde Irukera responded immediately after the tweet, saying;
You need to know the law, understand globally acceptable norms, re-value yourself, recognize obligations owed to you and other citizens, demand and insist you’re treated fairly and with dignity, and perhaps your view may change. It is grievous that you value self and nation so poorly.
Another user on the popular social media platform by name, Onome Metitiri writes;
Dear Babatunde Irukera, the closure of the Chinese establishment is very much in order & thanks for the steps taken.Nigerians cannot be treated poorly outside their country & the same done within as well. Anybody who cannot understand this has personality complex issues.Weldone!
The news was well received by some faction of Twitter respondents as many cites the precarious situations Nigerians go through in the hands of these foreign nationales.
