SOFO NEWS MEDIA has announced its acquisition of a local news publishing startup, AJOORO, in its bid to decentralize local and international news coverage across the continent of Africa.
As the new industry player in the online news content production and distribution across Africa, SOFO.ng has announced its first acquisition in an effort to further establish its readiness to deliver news coverage as it happens across Africa while focusing on grassroots coverage.
Ajooro is a local publishing company with widespread readership across the Southwestern part of Nigeria. In an undisclosed acquisition, Ajooro became the first acquisition announcement by SOFO News Media LLC, the company behind the Sofo.ng brand. SOFO.ng acquired AJOORO, a local news publishing startup with a widespread of local content readership. While trying to get a representative of SOFO.ng to comment over this acquisition, Mr. Tomiwa said,
This move comes at the right time for the company to further reach out to the rural areas by publishing in dialects that people can relate with. We have been on this for a while now and thank God that we finally reached common grounds for decentralizing local news publishing in Nigeria. The news was made available yesterday in a press conference by the board members of the growing news publishing firm at its Lagos Island office.
