Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde while speaking to the press at Igbo-Ora today.

The exercise which started from Igbo-Ora in Ibarapa is billed to spread across other rural areas in the state.

In a social media update via his official Twitter handle, the governor said,

Today, we were at Igbo-Ora, Ibarapa to flag off the distribution of palliatives to 90,000 poorest of the poor households and 30,000 vulnerable households. I stated that I have mandated that the distribution for the first 90,000 should be done in the next three days.

The Governor while speaking enjoined all traditional rulers and leaders in various towns and zones in Oyo State to keep an open eye on the distribution in ensuring that only people who qualify as one of the 90,000 poorest recipients get the palliatives.

If they suspect any foul play, they should contact us.

On our way to Igbo-Ora, we stopped at the Directorate of Vocational Skills and Entrepreneurship Studies at the Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, where Adire (tie and dye), bed sheets, and face masks are being produced.

We also visited the Model Primary Health Care Centre, Oja Oba, Igbo-Ora which will be converted to an isolation centre. The centre has the capacity to take 40 beds.
