Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi would leave the club next summer when his current contract expires.
The Argentine got fed up with bust ups and instability in the club.
Lionel Messi and his agent who happens to be his father Jorge Messi had began contract renewal talks with the club in which both parties have been satisfied with the deal.
But reports in Spain say that isn’t the case anymore, that the 33 year old would leave the club next summer when his current contract expires.
Spanish media say this new development is cited on the increasingly anger with the club who fault him for every action the board takes. This includes the Argentine been accused of calling for the sack of former coach Ernesto Valverde in January.
The six time Ballon d or winner who is seen as a quiet and shy personality has increasingly criticized the club actions.
A major criticism was to the Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal, over his claims that some group of player reduced in their field output while under Valverde, in which the club captain replied via an Instagram post saying he shouldn’t tarnish the image of the players and they should take responsibility for their decisions.
Zidane in response to the forwards exit in an interview after the 1-0 win over Getafe on Thursday said, “I don’t know what will happen but we hope not because he is in this league and we want the best in this league.”
Messi had renewed his contract with the club 8 times since 2005, but is set to leave the club by 2021. The forward has always shown interest to return to boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina.
