Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola has told his players to avoid mistakes in order to attain the desired titles.
The team which won a domestic treble last season have handed over the title to new champions Liverpool.
Although City have won the Carabao cup but lost by one goal to nill against Southampton over the weekend taking their total loss this season to 9 more than 7th placed Arsenal and equal with 9th placed Sheffield United.
A total of 9 matches lost totally differentiates from the 6 matches over the last two seasons.
Guardiola’s City would face Newcastle on Wednesday and Arsenal in the FA CUP semifinals later this month.
The former Barcelona coach said, “We have still incredible targets to fight for, to try and play good and this is the most important thing,” at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
“We are in the point where we sometimes make mistakes,” he added. “We have to avoid it.
“If it happens like against Southampton, Tottenham and Norwich away we will be out and Arsenal will be in the (FA Cup) final and (Real) Madrid will go through.”
The City side has lost to Chelsea and Southampton since the restart of football following the coronavirus lockdown.
When asked about the attitude of his players, he said, “I was worried how would be our approach but we have been incredible.”
“The performance was there and this makes me confident the team will not be relaxed.” he added.
Manchester City would play Real Madrid for a second leg of the UEFA champions round of 16 in August after winning Real Madrid 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
All though the stadium where the second leg fixture would be played hasn’t been sure to be at the Etihad stadium due to coronavirus restrictions in the country.
But a there are hopes that the game would be played in the Etihad stadium as the British government has included international sports stars traveling to Britain would be granted exemption from the quarantine requirements.
When the Spaniard was asked he said, “We want to play in Manchester, that is normal, but we will accept playing where UEFA decide to play.”
